S.C. senator, Milwaukee police chief spar over gun background checks
Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn had a testy exchange with U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham during a Capitol hearing on new gun regulations.
Graham, R-S.C., questioned the effectiveness of background checks already on the books and complained many laws aren't enforced.
Graham then pressed Flynn, “How many cases have you made? How many cases have you made?”
“It doesn’t matter, it’s a paper thing. I want to stop 76,000 people from getting guns illegally. That’s what a background check does,” Flynn shot back. “If you think we’re going to do paperwork prosecutions, you’re wrong.”
